Her Campus at UCLA: Building Community and Empowering Students

Her Campus at UCLA is a thriving chapter of the national media organization dedicated to empowering college women through content creation, events, and community building and a top Bounce host at UCLA. Her Campus serves as a platform for students to express themselves, gain valuable experience in media and journalism, and connect with like-minded peers.

Through its engaging events and vibrant community, the UCLA chapter has ranked as the top 5% of all 150 chapters of Her Campus across North America and has become an essential part of campus life at UCLA. Her Campus partnered with Bounce during the 2023-2024 school year to streamline their event hosting process and connect with other Bounce partners on campus such as REACH, a student-run organization for young content creators at UCLA.

Empowering Student Voices

Her Campus at UCLA provides a unique space for students to share their stories, opinions, and creativity. Members of Her Campus write articles, produce videos, and create content that resonates with their peers on campus. This platform not only allows students to develop their skills in writing and media but also fosters a sense of empowerment and confidence. By highlighting issues that matter to them, Her Campus members contribute to a richer and more diverse dialogue on campus.

The UCLA chapter is more than a club; it is a close-knit community where students can find support, friendship, and inspiration. The events and activities organized by Her Campus foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among members. By providing a space for students to connect over shared interests and passions, Her Campus helps to create a supportive and inclusive campus environment and empower the student voices in the community.

Hosting Engaging Events on Campus

A key component of Her Campus's mission is to host events that bring students together and create meaningful connections. From networking events and panel discussions to social gatherings and workshops, Her Campus offers a wide range of activities that cater to the interests and needs of UCLA students. These events provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, allowing students to learn from industry professionals, build their networks, and make lasting friendships.

Her Campus partnered with Bounce during the 2023-2024 school year to support their campus events team and help grow their presence and impact on campus life. One such event that Her Campus hosted on Bounce was a Paint n’ Sip event in collaboration with REACH

“The Paint n’ Sip event on Bounce helped us expand our community audience and then we even collabed on social media to help expand our followers on instagram through Bounce" said Isabella Appell, President of Her Campus UCLA, "Bounce was my first collaboration as president, and it marked the first step into expanding our club".

Her Campus at UCLA was, and continues to be, a cornerstone organization for the Bounce UCLA division due to their significant contributions to their community and their alignment with Bounce’s mission to build community and improve the student experience at UCLA.

With this partnership, Her Campus joins a growing list of impactful community groups at UCLA using Bounce to host events and build community. Other UCLA organizations using Bounce range all the way from student-run cultural organizations like the Nigerian Student Association, all the way to small local businesses who are active in the UCLA community like Splatterz.

Looking Ahead

As Her Campus at UCLA continues to grow and evolve, the organization remains committed to empowering students and building a strong community and the 2024-2025 school year is set to be one of its biggest ever. The future looks bright for UCLA as groundbreaking student-run organizations like Her Campus lead the discussion and empowerment at the school and make a positive impact in its community and beyond into the broader LA area.

As for Bounce, UCLA community groups who use the platform continue to describe it as a significant potential unlock for the campus as it gets adopted more widely. When asked about how she thought the first-year student experience would change as the campus adopts Bounce, Isabella, President of Her Campus, mentioned “Honestly, it would impact the (first-year) experience immensely. I only found out about the student activities on campus by looking it up myself on the website which was a bit scattered” she added, “With Bounce you could organize events and clubs by interest and have it tailored to student users so that Bounce can really help students find their space on campus.”

Her Campus members join the thousands of students using Bounce at UCLA every week to find out more about events happening on campus and student-run organizations that they can engage with.
